Chihuahua is Mexico's largest state: desert, mountains and the Barrancas del Cobre, the Copper Canyon system deeper in places than the Grand Canyon. The Ferrocarril Chihuahua al Pacifico, the Chepe, runs through it on one of the world's great train journeys.
The canyon country is Tarahumara (Raramuri) land. The Chepe runs from Los Mochis on the coast up to Chihuahua city, crossing bridges and tunnels with a stop at Divisadero, the classic canyon viewpoint.
