Morelos is the weekend escape from Mexico City: Cuernavaca, the city of eternal spring, sits about 90 minutes south in a warm valley full of haciendas turned hotels. The state is small but dense with things to see.
Tepoztlan is the mystical mountain town beneath the Tepozteco pyramid. Xochicalco's hilltop ruins are UNESCO-listed. The Ruta de los Conventos links 16th-century monasteries, several of them UNESCO-listed, across the state's villages.
