Sinaloa's traveler face is Mazatlan: the pearl of the Pacific, with one of the world's longest malecones and a carnaval that ranks among Mexico's biggest. Los Mochis and El Fuerte are the Pacific gateways to the Chepe train into the Copper Canyon.
Mazatlan's historic center has been restored into a lively district of plazas and theaters around the Angela Peralta theater.
⚠ Sinaloa sees significant cartel-related violence, including in Culiacan. Mazatlan's tourist zone is generally calmer, but check current government advisories and travel by day.
