The City of Eternal Spring, an hour south of Mexico City, where Cortés built his palace and Maximilian kept a country house. The cathedral is part of the UNESCO-listed monasteries on the slopes of Popocatépetl. Gardens, haciendas, and a warm climate have drawn weekenders for centuries.
