Capital: Cheyenne

Wyoming holds two of America's greatest parks back to back. Yellowstone, the world's first national park (1872): geysers, hot springs, bison herds and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Grand Teton: the sharpest mountain skyline in the Lower 48 rising straight from Jackson Hole.

Beyond the parks: Cody's rodeo and the Buffalo Bill Center, Devils Tower's 386 m rock column, and Cheyenne's Frontier Days, the 'daddy of 'em all' rodeo each July.
