Indiana's heartbeat is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway: the Indy 500 on Memorial Day weekend is the world's largest single-day sporting event, and the museum's Borg-Warner Trophy is worth the trip alone.

The north holds Indiana Dunes' Lake Michigan beaches; the south holds Brown County's hills, the French Lick resort, and Parke County's 31 covered bridges, the most of any US county.
