Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab Travel Guide

Capital: Dakhla

Dakhla sits on a narrow peninsula between a vast lagoon and the Atlantic, and the constant wind has made it one of the world's great kitesurfing and windsurfing spots. The lagoon's flat water suits beginners; the ocean side suits everyone else.

Beyond the wind: oyster farms in the lagoon, the Imlili desert sebkhas with their tiny endemic fish, the Dragon Island sandbar, and some of the emptiest coastline in Africa.
