Nunavut is Canada's Arctic: one-fifth of the country's land, 85 percent Inuit, and a culture that has thrived here for millennia. This is expedition travel, not sightseeing: vast, expensive, and unforgettable.

Auyuittuq National Park on Baffin Island offers the Akshayuk Pass between granite peaks. Kinngait (Cape Dorset) is famous for Inuit printmaking. Iqaluit, the capital, is the entry point, with the Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre as the essential first stop.

Getting there

Iqaluit (YFB) is reached by air from Ottawa and Montreal; there are no roads between communities. Travel is expensive and weather-dependent: use experienced Arctic operators and build in buffer days.
