Pythagoreion is the resort town of Samos, named for Pythagoras, who was born here. The ancient town and the nearby Heraion sanctuary form a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Eupalinos Tunnel, a 6th-century BC aqueduct through the mountain, is an engineering marvel. The harbor is lined with tavernas facing the marina.
