Chios Town is the main port of Chios, the mastic island: the resin of the mastic tree, grown only in the south of the island, is a protected product. The medieval castle quarter and the Kampos district of citrus estates are the sights. Ferries connect the town to Lesbos, the mainland and Turkey.
