Mytilene is the capital of Lesbos and the North Aegean, a port city with one of the largest castles in the Mediterranean. The island was the home of Sappho and remains the ouzo capital of Greece, with distilleries in Plomari. The Archaeological Museum and the Theophilos Museum are the cultural stops.
