Patmos is the holy island where, by tradition, St. John wrote the Book of Revelation in the Cave of the Apocalypse. The fortified Monastery of St. John crowns the Chora, and both are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island draws pilgrims and a quiet, upscale summer crowd to its beaches.
