Thassos is the northernmost major Aegean island, a forested island reached by a short ferry from Kavala. It was famed in antiquity for its white marble, still quarried today, and its beaches of marble sand like Marble Beach near Limenas. The ancient theater and the old town of Theologos are the cultural stops.
