Aegina is the nearest Saronic island to Athens, about 40 minutes by ferry from Piraeus. Its headline is the Temple of Aphaia, a remarkably complete 5th-century BC Doric temple on a pine-covered hill. The island is also famous for its pistachios, sold everywhere in the harbor town.
