Capital of Cao Bang province, near the Chinese border, and the base for visiting Ban Gioc Waterfall. The town sits in a valley ringed by karst peaks, with a long history as a frontier garrison. Nearby Pac Bo cave is where Ho Chi Minh returned to Vietnam in 1941.
