Metsovo is a Vlach mountain town in the Pindus at 1,160 meters, famous for its smoked Metsovone cheese and the Katogi Averoff winery. Stone houses and cobbled lanes make it one of the best-preserved traditional towns of the mainland. The Anilio ski center is a few kilometers away, and the road south crosses the dramatic Katara pass.
