Kastoria spreads around a peninsula on Lake Orestiada, ringed by Byzantine churches and the stone mansions of its old fur merchants. The town's fur trade dates back centuries and still defines its economy. A lakeside walk passes the Dragon Cave and the settlement museum of Dispilio, one of Europe's oldest lakeside villages.
