Halifax is Atlantic Canada's capital: a working naval port with a famous waterfront boardwalk, the star-shaped Citadel on the hill, and more pubs per capita than almost anywhere in Canada. The 1917 Halifax Explosion and the Titanic dead are part of its deep maritime story.
The boardwalk runs the working harbour: the Maritime Museum, the last corvette HMCS Sackville, and Theodore the Tugboat. Peggy's Cove is the classic half-day trip; the donair is the mandatory meal.
