Trains

The Al Boraq high-speed line runs Tangier to Casablanca via Rabat (Tangier to Casa in about 2h10). Conventional ONCF trains link Casablanca with Marrakech, Fès, Meknès and Oujda. Book on the ONCF site or at stations.

First class is cheap by European standards and worth it on long runs. Trains are comfortable, punctual and air-conditioned.

Buses

CTM and Supratours are the two quality long-distance companies: modern coaches, reserved seats, air conditioning. They cover everywhere the trains do not: Chefchaouen, Essaouira, Agadir, Ouarzazate, Merzouga.

Book a day ahead in high season. Supratours is the ONCF subsidiary and connects with train arrivals.

Taxis

Petits taxis (city, metered, one color per city) and grands taxis (intercity, shared Mercedes, fixed routes). In petits taxis, insist the meter runs (compteur).

Grands taxis leave when full (six passengers); you can pay for empty seats to leave sooner. Agree the price before getting in.

Driving

Roads are generally good; the mountain passes (Tizi n'Tichka, Tizi n'Test) are spectacular and slow. Fuel is widely available.

In cities, driving is chaotic and parking scarce: consider dropping the car and using taxis. An international driving permit is officially required with your license.

Flights

Domestic flights link Casablanca with Agadir, Dakhla, Laâyoune, Oujda, Errachidia and Ouarzazate. Royal Air Maroc and Air Arabia Maroc are the main carriers.

For the far south (Dakhla), flying saves two days of driving.
