Larissa is the capital of Thessaly and one of Greece's oldest cities, with an ancient theater carved into the hillside of its center. Hippocrates, the father of medicine, died and was buried here. It is a large working city rather than a tourist destination, but the theater and the Bezesteni market hall are worth the stop.
