Modern Corinth sits near the isthmus, but the draw is ancient Corinth: the Roman forum, the Temple of Apollo and the museum, overlooked by the Acrocorinth fortress. The Corinth Canal, cut through the isthmus in 1893, is a 6.4 km straight slash crossed by a bungee platform. Ancient Corinth was one of the richest cities of the classical world.
