Limbe is a beach town of black volcanic sand at the foot of Mount Cameroon, with a botanical garden, a renowned primate rescue centre, and the sombre history of Bimbia, a slave-trade embarkation site.
Seme and Down Beach are the main beaches. The Limbe Wildlife Centre (founded 1993) rehabilitates gorillas, chimpanzees, drills and mandrills, and the Limbe Botanic Garden sits at the mouth of the Limbe River.
