Mazunte

A beach town famous for the Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga, the turtle research center on its main beach, and for the sunsets at Punto Cometa, the southernmost point in Oaxaca. Once a turtle-fishing village, it reinvented itself around conservation and low-key surf. Nights are for stargazing on the sand.
