Durango

A colonial city of baroque churches and old film sets, where dozens of Western movies were shot in the surrounding desert. The cathedral and the Plaza de Armas anchor a well-preserved center, and a cable car climbs to the Cerro del Calvario viewpoint. Scorpions are the local emblem, sold as souvenirs.
