Ierapetra on the south coast is the southernmost town in Europe, a year-round resort in Crete's warmest corner. Ferries run from its harbor to Chrissi, the uninhabited island of golden sand and cedar forest. The old town holds a Venetian fortress and the house where Napoleon is said to have stayed.
