Prince Edward Island's capital, the birthplace of Confederation: the 1864 Charlottetown Conference led to the creation of Canada. The waterfront city mixes Victorian streets with a growing food scene, and Province House still hosts the provincial legislature. It is the island's main base, about 40 minutes from Cavendish.
