Three sample routes built only from places covered in this guide. Adjust for the season and current travel advice.

7 days: Coast and volcano

Days 1-2: Douala (La Nouvelle Liberte, Bonanjo, Ngondo if December). Day 3-4: Limbe (Wildlife Centre, Botanic Garden, black-sand beaches) and Buea. Day 5: Mount Cameroon climb (or foothill walks). Days 6-7: Kribi (Lobe Falls, beaches, Londji market).

10 days: North and wildlife

Days 1-2: Yaounde (museums, Mefou primate sanctuary). Fly or train north. Days 3-4: Garoua and Benoue National Park. Days 5-6: Maroua crafts and markets. Days 7-9: Waza National Park (dry season) and Rhumsiki. Day 10: return via Garoua.

14 days: The grand tour

Combine both routes and add the Grassfields: Bamenda, Bafut palace, Lake Nyos, then Bafoussam and Foumban (palace, museum, artisan centre) before returning to Douala via the Ekom-Nkam falls.
