Visa

Most nationalities need a visa, obtained as an eVisa online before travel. There is no visa on arrival without prior eVisa clearance; the eVisa receipt is presented at a biometric enrolment point on arrival.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months.

Health

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry.

Malaria prophylaxis is strongly advised countrywide; consult a travel clinic well before departure.

Safety

Official advisories (including the UK FCDO) advise against all travel to parts of Cameroon: the Bakassi Peninsula, parts of the Far North, Northwest and Southwest regions, and areas within 40 km of the borders with Nigeria, Chad and the Central African Republic.

Travel insurance is typically invalid where advisories warn against travel. Check current government advice before you go, and take normal big-city precautions in Douala and Yaounde.

When to go

November to February is the driest period countrywide and the standard recommendation.

For Waza and the northern parks, the dry season (roughly November to April) is best for wildlife viewing; March to May is the hottest period.
