Poulet DG
Poulet DG
Poulet DG, short for 'poulet directeur general' (General Manager's Chicken), is Cameroon's great celebration dish: firm chicken browned and simmered in a short tomato and vegetable sauce, combined with thick slices of golden fried plantain.
It was born in the upscale Douala restaurants of the 1980s, where senior company executives ate lunch; its rich, festive character made it their signature dish. It is now the classic platter for weddings, christenings and end-of-year feasts.
