Eru is the signature dish of the Manyu people of the Southwest: wild eru leaves (Gnetum) cooked down with waterleaf, red palm oil, beef and fish into a dark, rich stew.
It is eaten with water fufu, and it is a fixture at celebrations across the Southwest and in Cameroonian communities abroad.
