Mountains & Trekking

Vietnam's mountains run the length of the western border, and the north holds the drama: Fansipan at 3,143 metres, the terraced valleys of Sapa and Mu Cang Chai, and the limestone passes of Ha Giang.
Trekking here means village-to-village walks with homestays, not wilderness expeditions. The harvest season (September-October) turns the terraces gold; the water-pouring season (May-June) turns them to mirrors.
