Central Anatolia, Turkey

Uçhisar Castle, Cappadocia. Photo via Wikimedia Commons.

Uçhisar is the highest point in Cappadocia, its great rock castle honeycombed with rooms and tunnels. The panorama from the top takes in the whole valley system, and Güvercinlik (Pigeon) Valley drops from its feet toward Göreme.
