Bazaars & Hammams

The bazaar and the hammam are the two great Ottoman public interiors: one for trade, one for steam. The Grand Bazaar has run since the 15th century; the great hammams of Sinan's Istanbul still work as they always did.
Bargain in the bazaar, then surrender in the hammam: the self-service bath, the kese scrub, the marble slab. It is the most restorative afternoon in Turkish travel.
