Denizli and Pamukkale Guide
The travertine terraces of Pamukkale. Photo via Wikimedia Commons.
Denizli is the city behind Pamukkale: the white travertine terraces that cascade down the hillside, with the Roman spa city of Hierapolis on top. It is one of Turkey's most visited natural wonders.
Walk the terraces barefoot at sunset, swim in Cleopatra's Pool among fallen columns, and see Hierapolis's great theatre. Laodicea, another ancient city, is 10 minutes from the centre.
