Bodrum is the Aegean's whitewashed resort town: the Castle of St. Peter over the harbour, the marina's superyachts, and the site of the Mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. It has been a holiday town since Herodotus was born here.
The castle's Museum of Underwater Archaeology is the cultural anchor. The peninsula's beaches, from Bitez to Türkbükü, and the gulet day cruises fill the days.
