The Atlas runs the length of Morocco in three ranges: the High Atlas with North Africa's highest peaks, the Middle Atlas with its cedar forests and macaques, and the Anti-Atlas with its granite villages. The mountains are Berber country, and the valleys are the cultural heart of rural Morocco.
