Salvatierra

One of Guanajuato's oldest colonial cities, founded in 1644 on the Lerma River in a rich agricultural valley. Its historic center holds baroque churches and hacienda-era mansions, and the Batanes bridge is a local landmark. It is a quiet, handsome stop off the main tourist routes.
