Angangueo

A former mining town turned Pueblo Mágico, and the main gateway to the monarch butterfly sanctuaries of Sierra Chincua and El Rosario. Each winter, millions of butterflies blanket the oyamel firs on the surrounding mountains. The town itself climbs a steep valley in colonial style.
