San Miguel de Allende Travel Guide
La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel, San Miguel de Allende. Photo via Wikimedia Commons.
San Miguel de Allende is Mexico's prettiest small city and its most international: a UNESCO-listed colonial center of cobbled streets around the pink neo-Gothic Parroquia, with a large expatriate community and a serious food and art scene.
The city is compact and walkable, with rooftop bars above the Jardin and galleries in the old textile factory of La Aurora. Atotonilco's sanctuary, also UNESCO-listed, is the classic half-day trip.
