A heritage town at the mouth of the Niagara River, known for its preserved 19th-century Queen Street, one of Canada's prettiest main streets. It sits at the heart of Ontario wine country, surrounded by dozens of wineries famous for cool-climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and icewine. It is also home to the Shaw Festival, the repertory theatre company devoted to Bernard Shaw and his era.
